American Additive Manufacturing
Reverse Engineering

Part replication & reverse engineering

When OEMs retire tooling on legacy parts or supply chains break down, additive manufacturing keeps your fleet flying, your vehicles rolling and your equipment running. We laser-scan the part at your location or ours, generate a CAD file, re-engineer it for additive production, obtain your approval for use in the application, qualify the build, and supply it on demand under our quality system.

Reverse Engineering

Aircraft, ground vehicles, and industrial equipment routinely outlive the supply chain that built them. Casting tools retire. Injection molds go missing. Drawings disappear. OEMs and suppliers close. Meanwhile, the fleet still needs to operate, the production line still needs to run, legacy systems must be sustained, and the cost of obsolescence climbs every week.

We bridge that gap by scanning the part at your location or ours, creating a CAD file, re-engineering it for additive production (DFAM), and supplying the AM part on demand under your approval for use and our AS9100D quality system. This service is especially valuable for MRO programs, sustainment of out-of-production legacy platforms, and legacy industrial equipment where the original OEM no longer supports the part.

Every reverse-engineered part ships with a new source-controlled CAD file, and a validated build process for your certification process. To facilitate your team's qualification for aircraft parts' fitness for application: AIS (AICS) compliance, Certified Design Allowables and a certificate of conformance traceable to the material lot (all for Ultem 9085CG, Antero 800NA, Antero 840CN03), address the regulatory ambiguity that comes with one-off legacy parts.

Capabilities

Built for demanding programs.

01
Scan-to-CAD pipeline

Structured-light and laser scanning produces NIST-traceable point clouds, converted to GD&T-aware solid models that respect original tolerances.

02
Material substitution

Where the original material is no longer available or no longer optimal, we recommend and support your qualification of the closest additive-printable equivalent.

03
Build qualification

Coupon testing, dimensional first-article inspection, and process documentation that satisfies airworthiness and audit requirements.

04
Source-controlled drawing

A new, fully dimensioned, revision-controlled drawing for every reverse-engineered part, owned and maintained as your record copy.

05
Print-on-demand spares

Once qualified, the part is in our build queue forever: order one, order fifty, order on a recurring schedule.

06
Aircraft on Ground (AOG)

Same-day quote and days-not-weeks delivery of your pre-qualified parts for grounded-aircraft and line-down replacement parts.
