SLA

Stereolithography (SLA)

Run on the Formlabs Form 3B and large-format Form 3L. SLA produces parts with surface finish and dimensional accuracy that approach injection-molded quality, ideal for visual prototypes, wind-tunnel models, biocompatible R&D parts, dental and medical models, and master patterns for downstream tooling.

SLA

SLA is the precision instrument of our polymer line: micron layer heights, mirror-grade surface finish, and dimensional fidelity that rivals injection molding straight off the build platform. It's the process of choice for parts where the surface, the look, or the feature definition matter as much as the function.

Our resin library spans engineering, biocompatible, dental, casting-wax, ESD-safe, and high-temperature formulations. The Form 3B handles small precision parts, dental and medical R&D, and biocompatible work. The Form 3L delivers large-format scale models, wind-tunnel sections, and presentation-grade prototypes up to 13 inches.

For programs that need optical clarity, microfluidic feature definition, or castable-wax master patterns, SLA is often the only additive process that can hit the spec.

Use cases

Built for demanding programs.

01
Wind-tunnel models

Tight-tolerance aerodynamic test articles for subsonic and transonic validation: surface finish ready for instrumentation.

02
Master patterns & molds

Visual masters for silicone tooling, RTV molding, vacuum casting, and investment casting downstream.

03
Optical prototypes

Lenses, light pipes, transparent housings, and clear-resin functional prototypes.

04
Medical & dental

BioMed resins for surgical guides, R&D prototypes, and dental models, biocompatible per ISO 10993.

05
Castable wax

Investment-casting wax patterns for jewelry, dental, and small-batch metal casting.

06
Architectural & presentation

High-resolution scale models, decorative fabrications, and color-finished presentation parts.
